Download and install Mamba Codex
A tiny Codex digital pet inspired by Kobe Bryant in a purple and gold number 24 jersey with a fadeaway jumper and shimmy.
Mamba by am-will, via CodexPets.net.
This canonical 8×9 atlas can be downloaded as a native, renderer, or hooks/plugin bridge package. Each adapter keeps the creator credit and license.
Install in Codex in four steps
- 1
Download the ZIP package above.
- 2
Extract the ZIP. Keep pet.json and the sprite files directly inside one pet folder, without an extra nested folder.
- 3
Move that folder into ~/.codex/pets/ (or $CODEX_HOME/pets/ if configured).
- 4
Desktop: open Settings → Pets, select Refresh, choose the pet, then enter /pet. Codex CLI: enter /pets to choose a compatible installed pet.
This is the native Codex package. Other tools need their matching bridge or desktop-renderer export.
Tool compatibility & troubleshooting
Codex CLI: use /pets or /pet. Requires iTerm2 3.6+, Kitty graphics, or Sixel support. Not available inside tmux or Zellij. The IDE extension has no pet picker.
Claude Code, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Copilot CLI and Cursor: choose the matching adapter above. It contains the target-bound integration descriptor; install the Pet Studio CLI and the separate Agent Pets renderer when the README requests it. Do not use the Codex ZIP for these tools.
Agent Pets, Petdex and Clawd on Desk: these are separate desktop applications. Use their compatible package and installer, not a native pet setting in your coding tool.
Claude Desktop chat: it is not Claude Code and is not a supported pets target. Use the Claude Code hooks export for local coding sessions.
Official pet documentation ↗If your pet does not appear, check the folder nesting and keep the original manifest and sprite filenames unchanged.
Commercial distribution is authorized within the written scope. The download keeps the creator and authorization notice.
